This might sound odd (in fact, it probably will), but I'm really 'into' shampoo lately as you may have been able ascertain from this haul. Shampoo is a product that I tend to 'go through' quite quickly and I like to have options for oily hair days, damaged hair days, coloured hair days etc. I really could go on.
I jumped at the opportunity to try the Kerastase Elixir K Ultime Sublime Cleansing Oil Shampoo* recently because, well, why wouldn't I? Kerastase is such a lovely and luxurious brands that I'd only lightly dappled into in the past and the concept of a cleansing oil shampoo absolutely intrigued me. How well would it wash my hair? Would it leave it oily? So many questions!
After using the Kerastase Elixir K Ultime Sublime Cleansing Oil Shampoo* for a good two - three weeks now, I've definitely formed an opinion on it and today I want to share it with you!
Kerastase's Elixir K Ultime Sublime Cleansing Oil Shampoo* is a shampoo suitable for all hair types. It is formulated with Camellia, Argan, Maize and Pracaxi oils to deeply nourish and cleanse the hair which is meant to leave it it looking radiant and feeling soft to the touch.
The texture of this shampoo is quite different. It's exactly what I expected to be but it's also quite odd, if that makes sense. When poured directly from the bottle, the Kerastase Elixir K Ultime Sublime Cleansing Oil Shampoo* does feel quite oily. I was a little apprehensive about using it the first time I did, having to remind myself that cleansing oils leave the face feeling clean so this should be okay too. Once worked and lathered into the hair, I felt like it foamed up nicely but the foam felt quite dry. Again, quite odd. It lathered really nicely and was easy to work into the hair though so, to be honest, that didn't bother me.
After a few weeks of continuous use of the Kerastase Elixir K Ultime Sublime Cleansing Oil Shampoo* I have to say that I am impressed by the product but not blown away. It does a nice job of cleaning the hair and leaving it to feel hydrated once dry, however I have noticed that my hair is a lot knottier when I come out of the shower after using this product. For people with smooth and easy to manage hair that might be fine but it's definitely a pain to brush my somewhat unruly hair afterwards for sure!
All in all, I do like the Kerastase Elixir K Ultime Sublime Cleansing Oil Shampoo* and I will continue to use it. I have been using it in conjunction with a hair oil from the same line and I'm quite impressed with that too (review to come) and I'm interested in trying it with the Beautifying Oil Masque from the same line also. Regardless of your hair type I think you could be impressed by this product, though I'd highly recommend it to those of you with dry or damaged hair that's in need of a little TLC.
Have you tried this or any other product from Kerastase? Let me know! What's your favourite shampoo?
