Products Worth Trying in 2021: My Beauty Wishlist

The beauty industry is ever-evolving so it can be hard to know which products are worth your time. The industry is intimidating and the amount of launches that happen each month is hard to keep up with and no one can buy them all which is why I create a Beauty Wishlist

I have been creating a beauty wishlist for a good few years now and it just helps me to keep track of some of the products that I really want to try/add to my beauty collection. I am very easily taken in by the limited edition sales tactic which puts a time pressure on you buying the item and this list helps me to keep focus on the products that I truly want to try and have wanted to try for a while.

In my Beauty Wishlist I try to only include products which are part of brand's permanent collections that I might over look during the year or forget about. The start of the year provides a respite from the bombardment of new launches so I have the time to consider the products I truly want to try. Here is my Beauty Wishlist for 2021!

The Returners

There is no way that I could buy all of the items that I list, some of the items are expensive and I do try to keep a one in, one out policy with my beauty drawers so I typically only buy them to replace something. The products which are returning from last year fit into two categories and the first is The Returners but that does not mean I want them any less, I just haven't got around to giving them a go.

The Returners are:

  • YSL - Libre
  • Fresh - Nectar Glow Mist
  • YSL - Black Opium
  • Elemis - Pro-Collagen Rose Cleansing Balm
  • Tom Ford - Honeymoon Palette
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills - Soft Glam Palette

Products Being Added to the List

Whilst looking at the products that remain on the list is important, it is not the part that truly matters. You will have seen those products listed before in my previous Beauty Wishlist post, instead it is the products that have recently been launched (that I am adding to the list) that are truly important.

To start the year I am adding 6 products/brands that I want to try over the course of 2021.

Glow Recipe - Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Drops

When Glow Recipe launched the Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Drops it was a dream come true for me! Over the past year I have tried a fair few Glow Recipe products and I have liked them all, especially the Watermelon products and for anyone who has read my blog before, you will know Niacinamide is one of my hero ingredients. Nothing seems to sort out my skin quite like Niacinamide.

Niacinamide is a wonder ingredient for congested and breakout prone skin. When I use Niacinamide my skin always looks clearer and that is before you add in the glow element that Glow Recipe are offering within this product. Glow Recipe have intrigued me with the dream results and I hope to see these results when I eventually get around to trying the product.

Fenty Skincare

Anything Rihanna launches seems to be a hit so what could go wrong with her latest launch, Fenty Skin? Like most people, I will do anything to look like Rihanna and surely a bit of skincare is going to help me achieve the luminous glow her skin always seems to have.

Fenty Skin has been around for a while however it was only available to purchase direct from their website but thankfully on the 26th December Rihanna decided to keep the gifts coming and the brand launched in Boots and Harvey Nichols. This move instantly made the brand more accessible and I finally felt like it was time to give the brand my attention and during 2021 it is my aim to buy some of the products and review them for you. After the success of the makeup collection, I am hopeful that the skincare is going to live up to its sister brands high reputation.

Nars - Extreme Climax Mascara

The original Nars Climax Mascara launched with a press trip to Bora-Bora, leaving people to question whether these trips were a bit of extravagant. I mean a holiday to launch a mascara?! Seeing this actually put me off trying the mascara when it launched but a year later, I finally gave it a go. In the end the original version ended up being my Favourite Mascara of 2019.

In 2020 Nars launched the Extreme Version of the mascara and that is the one I want to try. I do really like the results that the original mascara gave but I feel like the extreme version is going to give me the big, clumpy lashes that I like without having to work so much for it. My biggest hope is that the formula remains relatively similar as the original mascara is one of the few that does not create large smudges around my eyes. Hopefully during 2021 I will finally get around to trying this mascara.

Byredo - Mojave Ghost

The biggest product shock of 2020 for me was the Ouai x Byredo Dry Shampoo. I had never tried any of the Byredo scents prior to testing this dry shampoo in a Space NK and after smelling it, it was life changing. It smelt incredible. Up until that point I couldn't imagine spending £115 for a 50ml bottle of perfume but now that I have almost finished this dry shampoo, I question why I wouldn't spend that much.

Mojave Ghost is one the most unique fragrances I have smelt and it very much borders on being a masculine scent but there is something about it that is soft and delicate which is what makes it wearable for me. The reason this is part of my wishlist is simply because it is so expensive. I thought Jo Malone London was spenny but this is another level.

Diptyque Candles

During 2020 my home became my life; I worked, socialised and spent all of my time there so like everyone, I had to find ways of making it as comfortable and as luxurious as possible and candles were a big part of this. Traditionally I have always been a Jo Malone London girl but last year I finally gave Diptyque a go and I cannot believe I have been missing out on these gorgeous candles all this time.

I treated myself to Ambre Plume over the festive season and not only was the scent absolutely perfect for the season with its spices but also the scent radiated throughout the house, creating the most warming atmosphere. Now I need to know if all Diptyque candles are like this so throughout 2021 I hope to try more of their candles to see whether Ambre Plume was an anomaly or if the brand truly is that good.

Victoria Beckham Beauty

Victoria Beckham has been dabbling in beauty for a while, it started with a collection with Estee Lauder which was a huge success and then she started her own brand back in 2019. Originally it was only sold on the brands website but eventually it became available on Net-a-Porter and Cult Beauty. Now that the brand is on Cult Beauty it is a little bit more accessible and I have now considered trying the brand and there are a couple of products I have my eye on.

I would love to try one of the Smoky Eye Bricks and the shade I am after is Silk, I mean look how pretty the shades are. Also the shades look so similar to the Queen of Glow Quad from Charlotte Tilbury and that is one of my favourite palettes and I feel like it would be a good comparison. I also have my eye on a Lid Lustre. As part of the VB x Estee Lauder collab there was an eye cream called Blonde that I wanted to buy but it sold out so quickly that I didn't get a look in and there is a Lid Lustre in Blonde that looks super similar so I would love to try it. The final product I want to try is one of the Posh Lipsticks. I love a lipstick and there was a lipstick which was part of the VB x Estee Lauder collab which I loved and I hope that these new lipsticks would be exactly like it. The shade from the past collection was called Nude Spice and there is a lipstick called Spice that looks quite similar. I am hoping that I will get to try at least one of these products this year.

Over the years of creating these wishlists I have learnt a valuable lesson, do not add too many products to the list or I will never tick them all off. Also as we go through the year products launch that instantly take my fancy so I have to allow for these launches to happen. Keep an eye on my blog over the year to see how I get on with my wishlist, I often review the products once I have finally tried them. Hit the subscribe button at the top for notifications.
